Roger Jackson Taste of Windsurfing Tour at Cal Sailing Club
Come check out the latest gear from Sailworks, Starboard, HPL, Powerex
and Streamlined and take it for a test drive. Bring your spouse, kids,
family and friends to learn the basics of windsurfing from experienced
instructors Roger Jackson and Ellen Faller.
Roger and Ellen have both been awarded the US Windsurfing Association
Windsurfers of the Year for their tireless efforts to promote and teach
windsurfing. Each year they introduce thousands of novices the joys of
windsurfing - truly the Jonny Appleseed's of the windsurfing world.
For seven years Roger has been generously sharing his wealth of
knowledge to interested windsurfers. He has an engineers mind and takes
a technical approach to solving rigging, tuning, gear handling and
sailing technique problems. If you're considering some light air gear,
Roger is a light wind expert and can set you on the right course for
light wind windsurfing performance.
Roger packs with him a broad selection of gear for all wind conditions.
Bring some of your own gear and try a new board or sail. Or just bring
your harness and check out a dialed in Sailworks and Starboard ride.

seminar: "Safety tips for the windsurfers" -- The seminar will cover: common injuries and
how to avoid them, how to come back to shore in non-powering low wind,
or extremely over-powering high wind. How to rig your equipment so that
you can sail in low wind/high wind conditions comfortably? How to water
start in low wind? The proper de-rigging of equipment in the water, the
proper way to swim back if all fails. Who to call if there is no help
around (coast guards), and general tips on how to stay safe. The seminar
will be given in at 10a.m., on June 12th, and it will be given by Sofien
Sehiri (who broke three boards, many masts and booms and still made it
back to shore).
